(LOT 1235)
1940 New York Yankees Baseball Stock Certificate Signed by Ed Barrow & George Weiss PSA/DNA Pre-Certified & JSA LOA

In 1939, Yankees team owner, Jacob Ruppert passed away and the team was then transferred to various family members; held in a trust by the Ruppert family until the team sold in 1945 to Lary MacPhail, Dan Topping, and Del Webb Jacob Ruppert Schalk (D. 1962) was the grandson of "Colonel" Jacob Ruppert, Jr.—U.S. congressman and owner of the New York Yankees (also the owner of Ruppert Breweries which was the world's largest producer of lager beer in the late 1930s) We offer a stock certificate for the New York American Exhibition Co. (NY Yankees) for 23 and 3/8ths shares of the Yankees issued to Ruppert's grandson, J. Ruppert Schalk. The front of the document has been signed by HOFers – George Weiss (D. 1972) and Ed Barrow (D. 1953). The signatures would rate 8-9/10. There are cancellation stamps on the document, but otherwise in fine condition. On the back of the stock certificate that measures 7.5" x 11" a signature of J. Ruppert Schalk appears along with a witness' signature. The significance of this document can not be underestimated. PSA/DNA Pre-Certified & JSA LOA.
