(LOT 8)
1948 Leaf #6 Bobby Layne Yellow Pants, Err. Bobbie Rookie PSA 8 NM-MT

ERROR LAYNE!!! Nicknamed the "Blonde Bomber", Bobby Layne is considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. A Texas Longhorn, he was an All-American player in 1947, led the Detroit Lions to their last three championships (1952, 1953 and 1957), and was elected to Pro Football's Hall of Fame in 1967. His leadership and relentless will to win separates Layne from his quarterback contemporaries, justifying why cardboard enthusiasts actively seek his most prized card, the 1948 "Rookie Card". This is the highest graded PSA Bobby Layne Leaf rookie card ever graded by PSA. An amazing action pose of Layne is reflected on the obverse as he drops back to pass in his #22 uniform that consists of vibrant blue and yellow colored hues as well as the "Yellow Pants" variation.

The image is surrounded by a solid bright red background, nicely centered between four clean white borders. A sterling perimeter is highlighted by four super square corners and razor sharp edges. The bold white text beneath his classic pose indicates that Bobby has been misspelled "Bobbie" (noted on all 1948 Leafs), and the typography on both the obverse and reverse sides is clean. No major surface blemishes complete this remarkable keepsake of the legendary Hall of Famer that currently resides at the top of the PSA charts. As a testament to Layne's legacy, you should score one of the biggest touchdowns of your collecting career by seizing this Layne Rookie Gem!!! Sold in 2010 for over $35,000.
