1947 Charley Trippi World Championship Ring
ONE OF A KIND!!! The man who truly did it all on the field! One of the greatest athletes to ever dawn a pair of cleats. From his college years at the University of Georgia where he was a two time All American selection most football minds knew he was something special. Alongside Heisman winner Frank Sinkwich, the Georgia Bulldogs went 11-1 and were National Champions in the 1942 season. He won the Maxwell Award in the 1946 season. His college career was interrupted by World War II. In 1945 the Chicago Cardinals drafted him #1 overall in the 1st round. The owner of the Cardinals at the time was Charles Bidwell Sr. and signed him to a 4 year contract worth 100,000.00 when many thought Trippi might sign with the New York Yankees of the AAFC. In the 1947 Championship the Chicago Cardinals defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 28-21.

Charley Trippi on an icy field wearing basketball shoes totaled 206 yards of offense. He scored two touchdowns in the game. In his playing career Charley Trippi played halfback for four years, quarterback for two seasons then back to halfback for one season and playing defense in the 1954 and 1955 seasons. He even punted for the Cardinals. Charley Trippi is the only hall of famer to amass 1000 yards of receiving, 1000 yards passing, and a 1000 yards rushing. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1968. Memory Lane is proud to offer his amazing 1947 Championship ring which was given to him in 2001 when the now Arizona Cardinals had a dinner commemorating the 1947 Cardinals team and now the ring is up for auction for that special collector to own.
