(LOT 882)
Joe Sewell Major League Signed Contract from 1932 PSA Pre-Certified

Joe Sewell's 1932 Yankees player's contract—the year he set one of baseball's most coveted records! This is Sewell's personal copy of his contract from the season in which the future hall of fame player set the major league record for the least times striking out in a season—three—for a batter with over 500 at bats. The remarkable feat stands today and will likely never be bested. He got paid $8,000.00 for his efforts—not bad earnings for a ballplayer in the middle of great depression. And this season also marked his second and last world championship team. It was also the last of the Yankees' world titles with Gehrig and Ruth together. A remarkable, historical document!
