ROBERTO!!! Born in Puerto Rico on August 18, 1934, Clemente joined Major League Baseball with the Pirates in 1955. Over his 18-season career, he was a 15-time All-Star, earned 12 Gold Gloves, won four National League batting titles, and led the Pirates to two World Series championships. In 1971, he also became the first Latin American player to reach the milestone of 3,000 hits. He was inducted into the baseball HOF in 1973 through a special election, becoming the first Latin American player to be enshrined.
