1967 Topps #569 Rod Carew Rookie PSA 9 MINT
CAREW ROOKIE!!! "He has no weakness as a hitter… anything you throw, he can handle" was Hall of Famer Jim "Catfish" Hunter's assessment of Minnesota Twins greatest all-time hitter. On Opening Day, April 11, 1967, Rod Carew collected the first two hits of his career at only 21 years old. Nineteen years later, Rod would become the 16th player in Major League history to collect 3,000 hits, ultimately retiring that year with 3,053 safeties. In that first MLB season in 1967, Carew, batting primarily second in the Twins batting order, hit .292 with 150 hits and 51 RBIs to capture the AL Rookie of the Year Award. He led the AL in batting seven times and in 1977 was named the American League MVP. The 18-time All-Star had built a Hall of Fame career. With only one card graded a PERFECT 10, this one is right on its tail. A visually appealing example offering a spectacular bright yellow background with excellent centering and brilliant white borders and incredibly sharp edging and corners This high number rookie edition is one to own.
