(LOT 60)
1954 Topps #128 Hank Aaron Rookie PSA 8 NM-MT

ORANGE AARON ROOKIE!!! The most significant rookie cards of the 1950s consist of some of the greatest players in history including Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Harmon Killebrew, Roberto Clemente, Ernie Banks, Sandy Koufax and, of course, Henry Aaron. The values for these rookies are incredible and increasing. Regarding the Hammerin' Hank, for the longest time, his 1954 Topps rookie card has been one of the most undervalued post-WWII cards. This disservice was finally dismissed by the current lucrative price tags now being realized for his ultra-desirable 1954 Topps rookie keepsake, including a $63K sale in August 2022. Presented here is one of the finer preserved 1954 Hank Aaron Topps rookie cards, a sensational PSA 8 NM-MT specimen bursting with quality.

In 1954, the Milwaukee Braves called up their rookie phenom outfielder Henry Aaron, who showed flashes of brilliance walloping 13 round-trippers in his first year. Aaron's unparalleled career included his passing Babe Ruth's inconceivable 714-homer mark when he belted an Al Downing fastball into the Atlanta bullpen on April 8, 1974. A member of the elusive 3,000-hit club, Aaron is the owner of the most lifetime RBIs (2,297) and total bases (6,856) in MLB history and many historians still consider Aaron's 755 lifetime home runs the all-time mark. He was one of baseball's three greatest right-handed hitters, along with Hornsby and Foxx.

This superb rookie issue offering displays breathtaking aesthetics with a crystal-clear Aaron portrait image accompanied by a formidable black-and-white fielding pose, both set against a super-rich autumn-orange background. Fine centering only exhibits a modest partiality towards the left edge between four snow-white borders, and the sharp corners, pack-fresh surfaces, and clean back are the final exclamation points confirming its high-grade assessment. This museum-worthy 1954 Topps Rookie of one of the greatest hitters in history deserves a high-end collection, assuming its place among some of the greatest rookie cards ever produced.
