(LOT 1705)
1968 World Series Ticket Stub Game 1 October 2 Cardinals-4, Tigers-0 Bob Gibson Complete Game with 17 Strikeouts BGS 3 VG

This ticket stub is for Game 1 played at St. Louis's Busch Memorial Stadium. The Cardinals would win the game 4-0 behind Bob Gibson's 17-strikeout performance. The 1968 baseball season is often referred to as "The Year of the Pitcher" due to the extraordinary performances by pitchers throughout the season. One of the standout pitchers of that season was Bob Gibson of the St. Louis Cardinals. Gibson had an exceptional regular season, finishing with an earned run average of just 1.12, which is still the lowest single-season ERA in the modern era of Major League Baseball. The Cards were up 3-1 but unfortunately dropped the next three games to the World Series champion Detroit Tigers. Ticket graded BGS 3 VG.
