Incredible 1973 "Battle of the Sexes" Billie Jean King & Bobby Riggs Archive Including a Signed 8" x 10" Photograph PSA/DNA 9 MINT, Event Program and Buttons

KING IS KNIGHTED!!!... In 1973, the United States was smack dab in the middle of the women's liberation movement as women fought for inclusion, equality, civil rights, and against sexual discrimination and archaic social norms and biases. Perhaps one of the biggest chauvinists of the era was tennis champion Bobby Riggs, who called the women's game inferior to the men's and at 55 he could beat the top women's player. Not the case, as Billie Jean King beat him in straight sets at the Astrodome setting the record straight. Offered is an incredible and noteworthy archive from that historic event. Included in this wonder tennis collection is an encapsulated 8" x 10" autographed photo, signed by Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs, holdered 9 MINT by PSA with a pair of ticket stubs from the event stapled to the photo at upper left. The jovial photograph of the two stars appears to have been taken inside an airplane or private jet. Accompanying the photo is a "September 20, 1973 – Billie Jean King vs. Bobby Riggs - $2" program still in excellent condition with only touches at the black border edges and spine; an "I love Bobby Riggs" button and an "I love Billie Jean King" button, each measuring 5" in diameter with red print on a white celluloid face.
