(LOT 1669)
1964 Dodgers MVP Vote Getters with Koufax PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Sporting News Photo - Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

KOUFAX WINS THE MVP!!!... This PSA Type 1 photo portrays the top four Dodgers' 1963 MVP candidates posing with manager Walter Alston on March 14, 1964 at spring training, including Sandy Koufax who won the 1963 NL MVP (and Cy Young Award), Ron Perranoski, Jim Gilliam and Tommy Davis. Of course, it would be the immortal Sandy Koufax who led the Dodgers to a four-game sweep of the Yankees in the 1963 Fall Classic. The flame-throwing southpaw would win the NL Pitching Triple Crown, winning 25 games, posting a microscopic 1.88 ERA, including 11 shutouts, and striking out 306 batters. If that wasn't enough, he would beat the Yankees in two World Series games, including the clincher, yielding only three runs in his two complete game victories. Some discoloration near the four corners and a series of light wrinkles near the upper right quadrant are the only notable flaws for this remarkable crystal-clear offering!
