For 18 seasons, The Mick wowed fans and the baseball world with his mammoth home runs, lightning speed and perseverance as he battled through injuries for two decades. Saddled with the formidable task of replacing the Yankee Clipper, Joe DiMaggio, in center field, Mickey Mantle did all that and more as he endeared himself to a new generation of Yankee fans and became a fan favorite in his own right.

Mickey Mantle crushed 536 home runs, drove in 1,509 RBIs, batted .298, won three AL MVP Awards and led New York to seven World Series titles. Ruthian numbers, to be sure. Offered here is a 1953 Topps #82 Mickey Mantle graded 6 EX-MT by PSA. This example portrays all of the HOF qualities you would expect from a powerful champion with his portrait lithograph wearing his Yankee cap, vividly registered and set against a stadium backdrop. The clean white borders show no defects, and the edging and corners are sharp. Save for the OC favoring the upper right border, this example surely would have earned a higher assessment given how remarkably well-kept and striking this work of art truly presents.
