(LOT 85)
1965 Topps #350 Mickey Mantle PSA 8.5 NM-MT+

MICKEY PASSES BABE!!!... For the seventh time in his career, Mickey Mantle finished in the top three for American League MVP voting as runner-up to Brooks Robinson, who ran away with the award. Mantle already owned three MVPs from 1956, his Triple Crown year, 1957 and 1962. With 99 walks, including a league-leading 18 intentional walks, The Mick finished second in base on balls, but he led the league in on-base percentage and OPS as he contributed 35 dingers and 11 RBIs. More importantly, he led the New York Yankees to his twelfth American League pennant, only to lose the World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.

However, he surpassed Babe Ruth in World Series home runs to set the mark at 18, a number not likely to be eclipsed anytime soon. Offered here is a 1965 Topps #350 Mickey Mantle graded 8.5 NM-MT+ by PSA. Mantle's classic follow-through pose presents sparkling hues, with the relatively well-centered image only modestly favoring the upper left edges, nearly invisible to the naked eye. Absolutely blinding white borders, a blisteringly sharp perimeter including four pinpoint corners and immaculate surfaces serve to accentuate the allure of this Commerce Comet issue from another spectacular season as Mickey set the still-standing World Series home run record.
