(LOT 54)
1954 Topps #250 Ted Williams PSA 8 NM-MT

LAST CARD!!!... 1954 marked the eighth of twelve times that Ted Williams finished in the top 10 American League MVP voting, having already won twice in 1946 and 1949. On the back of his league-leading 136 walks, the eighth time he led the league in bases on balls, Williams also posted AL tops in on-base percentage (.513), slugging (.635) and OPS (1.148). Unfortunately for Teddy Ballgame, this was one more season that the Red Sox would fail to make the postseason/World Series. But the Splendid Splinter's place in history and Cooperstown were cemented by 1954 with his .348 career batting average, 1,937 hits, including 366 homers and 1,387 RBIs, despite missing more than four full seasons due to military service.

The offered 1954 Topps #250 Ted Williams issue graded 8 NM-MT by PSA is also Hall of Fame worthy. Presenting incredibly clean and clear against a bright and bold yellow background, this dual-image issue is one for the finest of collections. With fewer than a dozen examples graded higher, this Ted Williams from the 1954 Topps set is one that deserves considerable attention. The first and last cards in a set are always the toughest to find in high-grade and this is no exception, and ironically, Ted Williams holds both spots.
