(LOT 13)
1910 T213 Coupon Cigarettes Type 1 Ty Cobb PSA 1 PR – One of Only Six PSA Examples in Any Grade!

ELUSIVE TYPE 1 TYRUS!!!... The unparalleled prestige associated with the iconic Carl Horner portrait pose of Tyrus Raymond Cobb affixed to his red and green background T206 subjects places any of these tobacco treats as exalted collectibles. This majestic illustration was also utilized for Cobb's extremely rare 1910 Type 1 Coupon Cigarettes T213 issue, residing as one of the Georgia Peach's most elusive tobacco cards on the planet. Memory Lane is therefore extremely proud to present this PSA 1 PR 1910 T213 Coupon Cigarette Type 1 Cobb, with this rarity being one of only six total examples on the illustrious PSA Pop Chart! Type 1 Coupon tobacco cards are immensely scarcer than their later issued 1914 Type 2 and 1919 Type 3 brethren, and capturing any Ty Cobb specimen would be a momentous achievement, with another Type 1 Cobb scarcity fetching $30K in Memory Lane's Spring 2024 Auction. By 1910, the immortal Cobb had already captured three successive AL batting titles and was now in the midst of replacing the great Honus Wagner as baseball's superior player. The 1910 campaign would see the legendary Motor City superstar nail down his fourth consecutive title via a sensational .382 mark, on his way to an unprecedented nine consecutive batting championships and 12 in a 13-year period!

This miraculous array of batting championships would ultimately result in a record-setting .366 lifetime mark via 4,189 safeties. Remarkable to say the least, Tyrus was now America's pinnacle sports star, tantamount to the world-class stature of this ultra-elusive Type 1 Coupon Cigarettes marvel. The classic portrait pose is encompassed by a bold red setting, with the highly celebrated Horner pose of the fiery Cobb uncompromised by a series of creases in the upper and lower left quadrants as well as the lower right quadrant. Striking facial hues, vivid resolution, and a bold "COUPON (MILD) CIGARETTES – Base Ball Series – FACTORY NO. 3. DIST. LA." ad-back are the final superlatives for one of the Georgia Peach's most coveted cardboard mementos. True, while a number of previously mentioned scattered creases and even corner wear resulted in the accurate assessment, it is the right to own a copy of this extremely obscure heirloom that steals the show. An irrefutable Tyrus Raymond Cobb rarity, its PSA 1 grade is rendered virtually irrelevant, with this Cooperstown-worthy prize a perfect testament to the iconic 1936 HOF charter member arguably recognized as baseball's greatest five-tool all-time player!
