(LOT 1909)
Bobby Jones, Walter Hagen & Others Signed 1933 U.S.G.A. Open Championship June 8, 9, 10 37th Annual Open Pass

Memory Lane is proud to present one of the rarest golf passes in the golf collecting community. Our consignor explains the background and significance of this 1933 U.S. Open Pass: "My father, Carl Wiborg, got this ticket when he attended the U.S. Open at North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Illinois from June 8th to 10th, 1933. He was only sixteen years old at the time. He later went on to be a career golf professional at various clubs in Illinois. The ticket is significant for the fact that the winner was an amateur named Johnny Goodman. He remains, to this day, the last amateur to win a Major! In 1929, the year before Jones' "Grand Slam", Goodman defeated Bobby Jones (the two-time defending champion) in the U.S. Amateur 1-up on the 18th hole at Pebble Beach Golf Links, known then as Del Monte Golf Club.

The most famous golfer to autograph the ticket was Bobby Jones. The signature appears as "Robert T. Jones Jr." Neither he nor his family called him Bobby. They called him Bob or Little Bob, and the Scots called him "Wee Bobby". Only his adoring fans and the press called him Bobby. The remainder of the ticket has over 20 signatures of the greatest golfers of that era, including Jones & Goodman as well as Tommy Armour, Billy Burke, Olin Dutra, Craig Wood, Tony Manero, Paul Runyan, Joe Turnesa, Ed Dudley, Mortie Dutra, Macdonald Smith, Frank Walsh and Walter Hagen, who signed it twice." Authenticated and slabbed by PSA, this is one golf rarity you don't want to miss.
