1968 Topps #177 Nolan Ryan Rookie PSA 7 NM
RYAN ROOKIE!!! After posting an unimpressive 29-38 record over five seasons and 74 starts, the New York Mets shipped their hard throwing right-hander Nolan Ryan to the California Angels for Jim Fregosi. What a colossal blunder! While pitching in Anaheim from 1972 to 1979, Ryan went 138-121 and led the AL in strikeouts eight of nine years with California. His 2,416 strikeouts with the Angels would tie him with Luis Tiant for 48th place in MLB history. But the Ryan Express was far from done. Nolan pitched 14 more years and led the league in Ks on four more occasions, retiring in 1993 as MLB's all-time strikeout leader with 5,714. Offered is a 1968 Topps #177 Nolan Ryan Rookie graded 7 NM from PSA. This brown burlap weaved edition remains in excellent condition with superior color, sharp and clean borders and corners, and clean surfaces. We presume that this would likely have graded higher if not for the minor OC issues and a minute dot at the bottom right corner on the reverse.
