1909 E92 Croft's Candy Johnny Evers Red Back SGC 6 EX-NM – POP 1; Highest Graded Example on ANY Population Report!

PINNACLE POP 1 EVERS!!! In 1909, the Philadelphia-based Croft & Allen Co. inserted baseball cards into their popular candy brand packages as a clever promotional tool. Similar to other renowned candy companies (e.g., Dockman & Sons, Nadja Caramels and Croft's Cocoa), lithographic images of popular stars were utilized on the obverse side, with the manufacturer's advertisement affixed on the verso. Croft's Candy issued 50 different players with three different colored advertisement backs (black, blue and red). Presented here just happens to be the FINEST Johnny Evers E92 Croft's Candy for ALL THREE colored ad backs on the combined SGC and PSA Pop Charts, a remarkable SGC 6 Red Back marvel proudly standing alone as the pinnacle example! Indeed, of the meager 15 total SGC (13) and PSA (2) graded specimens, not a single other copy has achieved this amazing 6 assessment. The legendary Johnny Evers will forever be celebrated as the second link in the iconic "Tinker to Evers to Chance" double-play combination, with this Cooperstown inductee leading the Cubbies to two consecutive world championships (1907, '08) as well as spearheading the 1914 Miracle Braves to a World Series title! His classic bat-over-shoulder pose is well projected against the brilliant orange setting, and the fine centering between four dazzling white borders reveals only a modest favoritism towards the upper edge. The final superlative is the ultrarare Croft's Candy red ad-back, with this POP 1 highest graded memento miraculously defying all the odds by retaining many of its original factory-issued attributes!
