1896-97 Cameo Pepsin Whitehead & Hoag Co. Gum Pin Cy Young PSA Authentic – One of Only Two Examples on the PSA Pop Chart!

19TH CENTURY CY!!! This rare PSA Authentic 1896-97 Cameo Pepsin Gum Pin of the legendary Denton True "Cy" Young is one of only two examples listed on the PSA Pop Chart. Originally issued in 1896 and regarded as baseball's inaugural pinbacks are the landmark Cameo Pepsin Whitehead & Hoag Co. celluloids featuring at least 159 subjects, with this Cy Young offering's PSA label inadvertently labeled 1898. This amazing heirloom portrays the immortal Cy Young as a member of the N.L.'s Cleveland Spiders, with his iconic portrait image the exact same pose taken from his extremely rare 1890-92 Cleveland Spiders cabinet. Measuring 1-1/4" in diameter, it boasts a classic Cy Young image as well as some general surface wear (mild oxidation/foxing). This pinback was issued before Young would commence his Boston Pilgrims tenure and some 14 years before he would post his final and miraculous 511th victory. His hallowed name and "P." position are situated along the left rim, with "CLEVELAND" affixed near the right edge. Accounting for the Authentic grade is the absence of the "CAMEO PEPSIN PIN" back advertisement; however, the right to own a copy of this scarce pinback truly reigns supreme!
