1941 Joe DiMaggio Hit Streak at 48 Games PSA Type 1 Encapsulated ACME Newspictures Photo – Measures Approx. 9" x 7"

JOLTIN' JOE EXTENDS HIT STREAK TO 48!!! Only a single month after Lou Gehrig's tragic passing on June 2, 1941, the Yankees scheduled a July 4, 1941 tribute to dedicate a center field monument to their fallen captain. Unfortunately, both games were rained out, and the ceremony was rescheduled for Sunday, July 6th. Before 60,948 enthralled fans, New York would sweep the Athletics in the double-header, with the Yankee Clipper extending his legendary hitting streak to 48 consecutive games (four hits in game one; two safeties in game two). This PSA Type 1 photo reveals the Yankee Clipper smoking a single to left field in his first at-bat in game one against Athletics hurler Johnny Babich, as HOF home plate umpire Bill McGowan and catcher Hal Wagner look on. While there is significant paper loss/chipping along the upper border, fortunately the crystal-clear DiMaggio central image remains completely intact. The verso includes a critical caption detailing both games of the doubleheader. A momentous keepsake from Joltin' Joe's historic streak, it serves as a sheer reminder of how his 56 consecutive game hitting streak truly resides as one of baseball's most unbreakable records!
