1909-11 T206 Bill O'Hara St. Louis Polar Bear PSA 4 VG-EX

O'HARA ST. LOUIS!!! The renowned Bill O'Hara St. Louis T206 subject proudly stands tall as one of the true cornerstones of the colossal T206 "Monster Set". Presented here is a superb PSA 4 example of this T206 anomaly, with only nine PSA examples graded higher! The prestigious T206 set's unparalleled mystique commences with the "Big Four" cards including Hans Wagner, Plank, Magee error (Magie) and Doyle variation. After these exalted four, the two most coveted variations include the St. Louis O'Hara and Demmitt St. Louis subjects issued by the Polar Bear Cigarette Co. Regarding O'Hara, after he was traded from the Giants to the St. Louis Cardinals before the start of the 1910 season, only the Polar Bear Co. reflected this change in their tobacco issues.

The remaining cigarette factories printed O'Hara in a New York Giants uniform, and a significant T206 variation was born! The limited number of T206 St. Louis O'Hara now command significant dollars and are among the toughest six T206s to obtain. Light-hitting outfielder Bill O'Hara played in the big leagues for only two seasons (1909-10). Yet, it was his switching teams in between those two fateful years that led to his iconic T206 St. Louis subject. O'Hara's well-centered batting pose is brilliant, with a few negligible tobacco stains evident on the side and lower borders, O'Hara's right shoulder, and the verso. Corner wear is consistent with the grade with some mild enamel peel at the upper left corner. This scare for the grade PSA 4 O'Hara St. Louis marvel presents itself as a grand opportunity to add another big piece to your T206 puzzle!
