(LOT 424)
1914 Cracker Jack #94 Eddie Cicotte High-Number PSA 4 VG

KNUCKLES!!! In his third season in the Windy City, Eddie Cicotte went 11-16 with 122 Ks and a 2.04 ERA. The eight-year veteran had nonetheless posted a winning 91-81 record with the Tigers, Red Sox and White Sox thus far. And things would only get better as Cicotte had winning records each year for the remainder of his career in Chicago going 118-67. He also led the American League twice in wins (1917 & 1919). Had it not been for his involvement in the 1919 Black Sox Scandal, Cicotte had a legitimate shot at 250 victories, but at 36 years old he was banned from baseball for life with a career-ending 209-148 record. Offered here is a 1914 Cracker Jack #94 Eddie Cicotte graded 4 VG by PSA. This attractive and boldly colored Cicotte Cracker Jack displays strong borders with even wear at the corner tips. Still very clean and lacking any significant caramel staining typical of this set, the back is clear with deep dark text. This POP 3 example has only three superiors of the 24 graded issues by PSA.
