(LOT 327)
1911-14 D304 Butter Krust Cy Young SGC 4.5 VG-EX+ - POP 1; Only 2 SGC Butter Krust Examples Graded Higher!

BRILLIANT CY!!! One of Cy Young's most obscure pre-WWI cardboard collectibles is his D304 Butter Krust subject, presented here in a stellar SGC 4.5 VG-EX+ holder. The sole SGC specimen at this mid-grade tier, it has been bested by a mere two SGC examples, with the PSA Pop Chart listing only two higher-graded copies. Young's unparalleled legacy is based on his miraculous 511 lifetime wins, arguably sufficing as baseball's most unbreakable record. Justifiably so, they named an annual award for pitching excellence after the immortal Cy Young, and this bread card of the iconic right-hander, likewise, certainly merits superior hobby accolades. Showcasing his Boston Red Sox flannels, Cy's brilliant pitching image reveals atypical near-perfect centering, eluding any glaring creases and flanked by visually pleasing radiant yellow and tranquil green hues. Even corner wear prevents a higher assessment, and the final compliment is the rather obscure "EAT Butter Krust BREAD" ad back. While you certainly cannot add win #512 to Cy's lifetime victory total, you can in fact win this renowned Cy Young bread card that has only been surpassed by a paltry two SGC examples!
