EE-YAH JENNINGS!!! While Hughie Jennings HOF accomplishments included a .312 career average as well as a sensational .401 mark in 1896, his super popularity is tied to his Motor City managerial years. Coaching third, his somewhat "off-base" antics included shouts of "Ee-yah" as well as other whoops, whistles, gyrations, jigs, and grass-plucking. The "Ee-yah" shout became his trademark, and was accompanied by waves of both arms over his head and sometimes a lifting of his right knee. Ultimately, he became known as Hughie "Ee-yah" Jennings, and Detroit fans would traditionally shout "Ee-yah" at the mere sight of Jennings coaching third base. This PSA 5 Turkey Red Jennings marvel has only been bested by six PSA examples, proudly boasting the iconic "Ee-yah" Jennings' pose seen on other "E" and "T" cards from that era. The bright image is captivating to say the least, with even corner wear and a few diminutive soling spots preventing a higher assessment.
