Babe Ruth Signed and Inscribed "The Babe Ruth Story" First Edition Book PSA/DNA LOA

Over the last century and a half or so, there is arguably no more sought-after autograph in sports than George Herman "Babe" Ruth's iconic penning. There are unquestionably much rarer autographs amongst his contemporaries and peers, as there is an abundance of Ruth signatures out there given his penchant to fulfill virtually any and all autograph seekers requests. Photos, autograph album pages, balls, bats and even his own personal documents have garnered significant prices due to his allure and recognizability. But one of the scarcer items is "The Babe Ruth Story" signed by Ruth himself only three months before his passing. "The Babe Ruth Story – As Told to Bob Considine" was published in 1948 and was primarily ghostwritten as Ruth was unable to contribute much to the text while undergoing cancer treatment. It did not stop him from press junkets signing copies once released, as this one is penned "To my good friend – Dan Dailey – From Babe Ruth 5-10-48". Signed in black fountain "9-10" strength on the inside title page, this cloth-bound first edition remains in excellent condition, with binding separation and stray threads evident along with visible display and perusal wear. Ruth passed away only three months after signing this issue. A truly remarkable work signed by the best ever.
