(LOT 65)
1957 Topps #17 Bob Cousy Rookie PSA 8 NM-MT

CELTIC ROOKIE!!! Nicknamed "The Houdini of the Hardwood" and "Mr. Basketball", Bob Cousy will forever be regarded as one of the greatest point guards in NBA history, with his magnificent ball-handling and passing skills virtually revolutionizing professional basketball. This magnificent PSA 8 NM-MT rookie card offering of the slick point guard stands as one of the most coveted basketball cards ever, bested by only a meager four examples on the PSA's Pop Report! From 1950 through 1963, Cousy won six NBA titles (including five consecutive championships from 1959-1963), and led the league in assists for an unprecedented eight consecutive seasons (1953-1960).

A first ballot Hall of Famer, he was a member of the All-Star team for all 13 of his seasons with the Boston Celtics, winning the All-Star game MVP in two of those campaigns (1954 & 1957). Any artifacts from Cousy's playing days are highly coveted among the collecting community, let alone a high-grade 1957 Topps rookie subject. Cousy's classic image depicting his #14 jersey remains in pack-fresh condition, with virtually no background snow impeding the iconic action pose. The fine centering only reveals a slight partiality towards the left edge, with the bright white borders and sharp perimeter edging providing a near-perfect frame. Both surfaces have eluded any glaring blemishes contributing to the high-grade assessment for Cousy's most significant cardboard keepsake that truly represents the inaugural card for one of the greatest point guards in NBA history!
