1955 Topps #123 Sandy Koufax Rookie PSA 8 NM-MT
SANDY ROOKIE!!! When the Brooklyn Dodgers signed the hometown lefty, no scout or manager could have imagined the impact that he might make on the franchise, let alone the National League. Koufax would enjoy one of the most productive and spectacular five-year spans (1962-66) of any pitcher in history. He led the NL in wins three times, in ERA from 1962 to 1966, three times in shutouts and was the first to win the Cy Young Award three times in the era when only a single award was issued for both leagues. Koufax threw four no-hitters, including one perfect game, and won the 1963 NL MVP, not to mention World Series titles in 1955, '59, '63 & '65, earning MVP honors in each of the last two. Along with the Mantle, Aaron, Mays and Clemente rookie cards (also in this set), the Koufax Rookie has officially joined those elite ranks as one of the most coveted 1950s inaugural issues. Presented here is a 1955 Topps #123 Sandy Koufax rookie card graded 8 NM-MT by PSA. Its vibrant colors mirror the lefty's brilliance, with this issue showing excellent centering, crisp sharp edges and clean surfaces save for a light amount of darkened snow on the face along the top edge. The reverse is super clean and concise with perfect print registration. Awesome Sandy Rookie!
