This PSA 8 NM-MT 1954 Topps #250 Ted Williams #250 subject was the final card issued in the prestigious 1954 Topps set, and of the nearly 4,200 PSA encapsulated examples, only 11 copies have managed to exceed this hallowed plateau! It comes as little surprise that the Topps Chewing Gum Company commenced and ended their sanctified '54 compilation with the incomparable Theodore Samuel Williams, whose batting exploits place him as baseball's arguable greatest all-time hitter. Ultra-popular with collectors, the 1954 Topps #250 issue included two images: an imposing portrait pose and a smaller batting illustration, with both of these virtually flawless images literally brought to life via the radiant yellow background. Atypically, the illustration portrays relatively fine centering, and only a modest trace of favoritism is evident towards the left edge between snow white borders. For full disclosure, there is a somewhat rough left edge factory cut, with the square corners, pack-fresh surfaces, and captivating eye appeal all combining to support the world-class assessment.
