(LOT 113)
1973 Topps #100 Hank Aaron PSA 10 GEM MINT

HAMMERIN' HANK 10!!! Rarely does even the most sophisticated collector have an opportunity to capture a half-century-old pack-fresh baseball card, especially when it represents an immortal Hall of Famer from the ultra-condition-sensitive 1973 Topps set. Courtesy of Memory Lane, presented here is an incomprehensible PSA 10 GEM MINT 1973 Topps #100 Hank Aaron marvel that, along with seven meager examples, stands as the finest of its kind! At the start of the 1973 campaign, Atlanta Braves superstar Henry Aaron was only 41 home runs shy of tying the immortal Babe Ruth's exalted 714-mark. Hammerin' Hank would not disappoint, clouting 40 round-trippers and ending the season a single homer short of the Bambino's iconic record. Of course, the following year, on April 8th at Atlanta's Fulton County Stadium, Aaron would blast an Al Downing fastball into the LA Dodgers left field bullpen for home run #715, finally eclipsing the Babe's magical mark.

In the past few years, it's no secret that hobbyists are jumping aboard the Aaron bandwagon, seizing his previously undervalued high-grade cardboard artifacts before they reach a stratospheric level. Hank Aaron's lifetime achievements are nothing short of incredible, including still-standing records of 2,297 RBIs as well as 6,856 total bases, and likewise, his representation on this PSA 10 marvel is simply magnificent. Due to their common off-centered and tilted images, the 1973 Topps subjects are among the toughest cards to find with perfectly centered illustrations revealing zero tilt. Indeed, an elite enthusiast's painstaking search for well-centered specimens can seem like an infinite quest. Amazingly and in atypical fashion, this breathtaking Aaron prize offers a near-perfectly centered image with zero tilt, only ever-so-slightly favoring the left edge between four dazzling white borders.

Truly meriting the premier grade, every possibly technical aspect is pristine, starting with Aaron's classic fielding pose as he utilizes his sunglasses to battle a high-sky sun. Bright crisp hues, pinpoint corner tips, flawless surfaces, and a razor-sharp perimeter are all immaculate attributes supporting the rare assessment. However, it's the well-positioned Aaron image side-stepping any tilt that steals the show, with this heart-stopping masterpiece stubbornly defying the past 50 years to retain all of its original factory issued qualities!
