1963 Topps #553 Willie Stargell Rookie PSA 9 MINT
POWERFUL POPS!!! Though hitting for average was scarcely a strong suit for Willie Stargell, that cannot be said about his power at the plate. Stargell was immensely strong with massive forearms allowing him to turn on a pitch with great speed and power. In the history of Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles, four home runs left the building completely and two of those came from the bat of Stargell. Pittsburgh's Forbes Field was gargantuan and over its 61-year existence, 18 balls cleared the roof in right. Willie Stargell hit eight of those shots out of the ballpark. But Willie was more than power and served as the leader of the Pirates, earning the nickname "Pops" as the wily and successful veteran. Offered here is a 1963 Topps #553 Willie Stargell PSA 9 MINT rookie card. This 1963 Rookie Stars issue is perfectly centered with bold yellow and blue backgrounds on the face and bright canary yellow on the reverse. Super sharp and crisp with unblemished surfaces on this one. Fabulous Rookie!
