1957 Topps #95 Mickey Mantle PSA 8 NM-MT
'57 TOPPS MICK!!! The iconic Yankee center fielder, Mickey Charles Mantle, truly stands as the hobby's pinnacle post-WWII player, with his incredibly hot 1952 Topps rookie card paving the way for The Mick's other cardboard gems. Mantle's HOF accomplishments include 536 dingers, three MVPs, 12 AL pennants, seven championships, a record 18 World Series homers, and a 1956 Triple Crown season. Following that "Cinderella" '56 campaign, Topps issued one of Mantle's most popular cards in 1957, with a sparkling example presented here in a PSA 8 NM-MT holder.
Mickey's cards continue to soar in value, and this 1957 museum-quality example just happens to be one of Mantle's finest heirlooms. The card itself is magnificent, starting with its near-perfect clarity and contrast as Mickey completes his majestic swing donning his classic Yankee pinstripes. Similar to most examples, the image is somewhat off-centered, in this case favoring the lower right edges. However, the blinding white borders, pinpoint corners, pack-fresh surfaces and dazzling Oklahoma Kid illustration more than compensate for the imperfect positioning, with the PSA 8 consistent with the factory-issued attributes!
