Roger Maris Signed 8" x 8" B&W Photo posing for his 61st Home Run Breaking Ruth's Record JSA LOA
This signed photo shows Roger Maris breaking Babe Ruth's single-season home run record with home run #61 on October 1, 1961, in New York's final game of the regular season. Maris became the first player in Major League Baseball to hit more than 60 in a season that day, topping former Yankees great Babe Ruth, who hit 60 home runs in 1927. Mantle hit 54 homers that '61 season, suffering an infection in September, leaving Maris to chase the record by himself. A great photo signed in blue marker and authenticated by JSA.
