(LOT 1620)
1961 Peters Meats Minnesota Twins Complete Ungraded Set

The long and history-filled run of the Washington Senators came to an end in 1960 when the team folded and the stadium lights went out in our nation's capital. In 1961, bright new lights lit up the darkness as the Minnesota Twins were born in America's heartland. Naturally, local businesses took advantage with special promotions showcasing the new team, and its star players and future Hall of Famers. These promos were limited to the local region and are not common in today's market. One of the more popular was the Peter's Meats set of 26 cards which was issued in various formats as part of the packages of hotdogs and other meat products. The keys to this set are future HOFers Harmon Killebrew (EX-MT+) and Jim Kaat (EX). With each card measuring 5-3/8" x 3-3/4", this 26-card set presents as near mint, but technically is EX to EX-MT overall. #26 Consolo shows evidence of rubber band marks on back.
