1957 Topps #1 Ted Williams PSA 8 NM-MT

TEDDY BALLGAME!!! Most baseball historians agree that Ted Williams is the greatest hitter who ever lived, justified by his .344 lifetime average, 521 home runs, and formidable stature as being the last player to hit .400 in that magical 1941 season. The Splendid Splinter also served two stints as a fighter pilot in World War II and the Korean War, with his iconic baseball stature and wartime heroism propelling him to become a national hero. Presented here is a Ted Williams 1957 Topps #1 card that personifies his quest to be virtually "second to none". His stellar representation on this PSA 8 offering is no simple accomplishment since it is the #1 card in the set, typically plagued by the elements for sitting at the top of the cardboard stack. A majority of its pack-fresh attributes are consistent with the grade, with the only notable imperfections being the image's slight favoritism towards the right edge and what appears to be a microscopic factory-issued red printer defect at the lower border.
