1948 Old Gold Cigarettes Jackie Robinson Kneeling in Dugout Rookie PSA 1 PR
JACKIE ROOKIE!!! One of Jackie Robinson's rookie cards is his 1948 Old Gold Cigarettes Kneeling in Dugout postcard-sized issue, with many astute hobbyists in agreement that its inaugural release date was September 1947. Inadvertently labeled as a 1948 issue by PSA, this 1947 Robinson keepsake joins his '47 Bond Bread Portrait issue as one of his true rookies. Presented here in a PSA 1 PR holder, while numerous creases, lower right quadrant surface cracking, and rounded corners account for the grade, the critical Jackie central image and facsimile salutation present relatively well. The verso's extensive Jackie Robinson bio is completely intact, and the fact that this bio only mentions Jackie's early 1947 signing with Brooklyn (with no mention of his ROY Award or any of his 1947 accomplishments) adds further credence to its assumed 1947 late summer or early fall issue date.
