(LOT 743)
1910 Nadja E104-1 Eddie Plank Blank Back SGC 1 PR

PLANK T206 IMAGE!!! The 1910 Nadja E104-1 rarity resides as one of the most elusive of all "E" cards, with 18 Athletics players subjects issued in late 1910 to commemorate Philadelphia's 1910 Championship (Williams & Rochester Baking sets were issued in 1911). The most coveted player is the iconic HOF southpaw pitcher Eddie Plank, presented here in an SGC 1 PR holder and one of only 14 examples listed on the SGC Pop Chart! The popularity of Eddie Plank's iconic Carl Horner portrait image stands right alongside the T206 Wagner image as one of the hobby's most hallowed poses. Yet, collectors forget there are well over 100 T206 Plank specimens listed on the combined SGC and PSA Pop charts compared to a paltry 20 Nadja E104-1 copies (14 SGC; 6 PSA). This meager count of E104-1 Planks represents a mere fraction of the existing T206 Planks, and you wonder when hobbyists will begin catching on to the scarcity level of Plank's T206 candy card brethren. Author of 326 lifetime wins, Plank's classic Carl Horner pose has been compromised by several creases, an area of paper loss on his right shoulder and significant corner wear. Yet, as is the case for many of the hobby's true rarities, it is the simple right to own a copy that far outweighs the 1 assessment!
