1933 Sport Kings #32 Joseph Lopchick PSA 8 NM-MT
ORIGINAL CELTIC!!! Joe Lopchick (Lapchick) was one of the great centers of the 1920s and ‘30s and led his Celtics and Cleveland Rosenblums to four ABL championships. At 6'5", Lapchick figured out early that basketball would be a cash cow. Barnstorming the Northeast with the Original Celtics, Lapchick and the Celts wowed crowds with tricks and razzle-dazzle, much like the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters. When his playing days ended, Joe coached St. John's for 20 seasons (1936-47, 1956-65), leading them to four NIT championships. He also coached the New York Knickerbockers from 1947 to 1956, leading them to the playoffs in eight straight seasons and the NBA Finals three straight years. He was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1966. Offered is a 1933 Sport Kings #32 Joe Lopstick (Lapstick) graded PSA 8 NM-MT. This wonderfully framed issue displays a radiant yellow background, four blood-drawingly sharp corners and exceptional clarity. Only four graded higher!
