RED SOX RUTH!!! Already a two-time World Series champion, Babe Ruth stands at the ready for his turn at bat or awaits the next question from the media in this Type 2 photograph from his latter days with the Boston Red Sox. Clad in his pinstriped Red Sox uniform, this classic image from United Press International has been encased as an Authentic rookie-era image, though likely reproduced in the late 1940s when eulogizing the ballplayer's remarkable and transcendent career. The 6-1/2" x 8-1/2" photo remains in excellent condition with corner creasing and some minor toning on the left portion, but nothing can divert attention away from the central Ruth image that has become so recognizable over the past century. The reverse is clean with a red pencil notation "The idol of baseball fans" above the prominent red International News Photo stamp at center. This would be a wonderful and affordable addition to any Babe Ruth original photo collection.
