c.1908-10 Hughie Jennings PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Charles M. Conlon Photo Used for Jennings T206 "Ee-yah" Subject - Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

EE-YAH JENNINGS!!! Hall of Famer Hughie Jennings became famous during his managerial years for his somewhat off-base antics in the third base coaching box, including shouts of "Ee-yah", as well as other whoops, whistles, horns, gyrations, jigs, and grass-plucking. The "Ee-yah" shout became his trademark and was accompanied by waves of both arms over his head and sometimes a lifting of his right knee. Ultimately, Jennings became known as Hughie "Ee-Yah" Jennings, and Detroit fans would traditionally shout "Ee-yah" at the mere sight of Jennings on the field. Presented here just happens to be an original PSA Type 1 Hughie Jennings image revealing the bygone player/manager in one of his classic "Ee-yah" coaching poses (in this instance with both feet on the ground). Originally struck by iconic photographer Charles M. Conlin, this is the exact image utilized for one of Hughie Jennings T206 "Ee-yah" subjects, a pose well recognized by a myriad of vintage hobbyists.

The electrifying Jennings image depicts this popular Cooperstown inductee donning his Tiger flannels, with impeccable clarity and contrast the highlight of this time-defying masterpiece. No obtrusive flaws compromise the magnificent central image, with some negligible blemishes including a lower left corner chip, stray surface wrinkles/impressions, rounded corners and two insignificant diminutive black marks along the upper edge. The flipside includes the critical "Charles M. Conlon" credit stamp, some pencil notations written in Conlon's hand reading as follows: "Hugh JENNINGS – Detroit", and a red-hued "PROPERTY Of The Sporting News" additional stamp. Jennings earned his Cooperstown induction via an abundance of diamond accomplishments, including a .312 career batting average as well as a sensational .401 mark in 1896. However, he will always be best remembered for his Detroit Tigers managerial stint where he claimed three consecutive AL pennants from 1907–1909 while managing the incomparable Tyrus Raymond Cobb. In closing, his representation on this world-class offering is directly tied to one of Jennings legendary T206 "Ee-yah" subjects, with this resounding heirloom forever securing Hughie's popular Hall of Famers legacy!
