(LOT 155)
1971 Topps #100 Pete Rose PSA 9 MINT

ROSE VS. FOSSE!!! In one of the most infamous plays in MLB All-Star Game history, Pete Rose bowled over Cleveland Indians catcher Ray Fosse, touching home plate and breaking up the play to win the game for the National League. As it goes, trailing the AL 4-1 heading into the ninth, NL hitters clawed back into the game, tying it in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. With Rose on second in the 12th, Jim Hickman singled to center, and as Rose attempted to score with Amos Otis' throw to the plate barreling down on him, he hit Fosse like a train, knocking him over, to which Fosse missed the throw, and the National League won 5-4. Offered here is a 1971 Topps #100 Pete Rose graded 9 MINT by PSA. The back briefly mentions the play that many feel was one of the dirtiest of all time. However, this card is clean. Remarkable centering, absolutely perfect borders with no chipping or flaking and superb color. Charlie Hustle from 1971.
