MILWAUKEE'S MATHEWS!!! In only his third year in the Majors in 1954, at 24 years old, Eddie Mathews stroked 40 home runs, only a year after leading the National League in home runs with 47. That same year, on August 9th, Mathews became the first ever subject on the inaugural issue of Sports Illustrated, seemingly bashing another dinger over the right field wall. Mathews homered against New York the day before and against St. Louis the day after the issue was released. Offered here is a 1955 Topps #155 Eddie Mathews PSA 9 MINT.
