1963 Topps #1 Johnny Unitas PSA 8 NM-MT
U-MAN!!! The #1 card in any set can be an arduous task with first and last issues often succumbing to surface abrasions and rubber band marks. During the 1950s and '60s, card companies named the best player of the day as the #1 edition and few, if any, landed at #1 more than Baltimore Colts QB Johnny Unitas. By 1963, Unitas was already a six-time Pro Bowler and 1959 NFL MVP winner. (He would win two more MVPs in 1964 & '67.) Offered here is a high-grade PSA 8 NM-MT #1 card of Johnny Unitas from the 1963 Topps release. This tremendous issue of #19 displays amazing color and superb centering. The corners and edges present clean and sharp save for a light touch at the lower left corner. The verso is as striking at the face making this one deserving of a second look. Only six eclipse this high-grade issue, so make you play for this Unitas from '63.
