1969 Topps #75 Elvin Hayes PSA 9 MINT

BIONIC MAN!!! In 1968, Elvin Hayes starred for the Houston Cougars in the first ever televised college basketball game against the UCLA Bruins, led by Lew Alcindor. Having lost to the Bruins in the NCAA Tournament the previous year, Houston exacted revenge on UCLA as Hayes scored 39 points and the Cougars beat the Bruins 71-69, snapping UCLA's 47-game winning streak. Hayes was then the first overall pick of the 1968 NBA Draft by the San Diego Rockets. He played 16 seasons in the NBA and was considered one of the great power forwards in the history of the game. Over his 16-year career, Big E missed only nine games and played an even 50,000 career minutes. He led the NBA in scoring as a rookie in 1968-69, named to the All-Rookie squad and earned his first of 12 NBA All-Star Game nods. He led the league in rebounds twice and took the Washington Bullets to the NBA title in 1978. Offered here is a 1969 Topps #75 Elvin Hayes rookie card graded 9 MINT by PSA. This highest graded example gives basketball collectors all they want: flawless surfaces, spot-on centering, pinpoint corners and edging, and sensational color. Elvin was ultimately inducted into the College and Pro Basketball Hall of Fame.
