1956 Topps #292 Luis Aparicio PSA 9 MINT
HALL OF FAME ROOKIE!!! Luis Aparicio was an American League icon for 18 seasons in the big leagues, playing with the White Sox (twice), Orioles and the Red Sox. In 1956, he led the AL in stolen bases and hit .266 with 56 RBIs to win the AL Rookie of the Year award. Aparicio also led the AL in steals for nine straight seasons from 1956-1964. Little Louie stood tall at 5'9", but he carried a big glove at shortstop, earning nine Gold Gloves and posting a .972 fielding percentage with more than 4,500 putouts, 8,000 assists and 1,553 double plays turned. With only three examples graded higher, this 1956 Topps Luis Aparicio graded 9 MINT by PSA is one of the finest we have ever had the pleasure to offer at auction. This seemingly flawless example displays razor-sharp edging and corners, brilliant color and imagery, spotless surfaces and superb centering. It's hard to wonder what kept this issue out of a GEM MINT 10 holder, but given the mere trio of superiors, this is an upgrade card to be sure.
