1952 Brooklyn Dodgers Schedule Cards Complete PSA Registered Set - #3 on the All-Time PSA Set Registry with 5.13 GPA
DODGER BLUE HOFers!!! In the late-1940s, using shortstop Pee Wee Reese as the cornerstone, Brooklyn Dodgers GM Branch Rickey, known for growth of the minor league system, cultivated an ultra-talented squad consisting of future Hall of Famers Jackie Robinson, Gil Hodges, Duke Snider and Roy Campanella as well as ace pitcher Ralph Branca. The Dodgers won three pennants in the '40s and captured the NL flag in 1952, after Rickey's departure in 1950. But his team was intact and through 1959, Rickey's influence would be felt as the Dodgers won seven pennants and the 1955 World Series with the talent that he developed. In 1952, for the fourth time, the Dodgers faced the New York Yankees in the World Series, falling once again to Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford-led Bombers. Prior to the season, the Lumitone Photoprint Company of NY created the four-player 1952 Brooklyn Dodgers Schedule Card set in anticipation of another pennant winning season.
The 1952 Brooklyn Dodgers schedule card set features four of Dodger greatest including Gil Hodges, Pee Wee Reese, Jackie Robinson and Duke Snider. Each one helped lead Dem Bums to at least six World Series, including the 1955 World Series championship team, of which all were members. Every card displays the player either posed or in action with a facsimile signature and salutation in black at the bottom. Each back displays the "Dodgers Home Schedule" as well as directions on "How to Get to Ebbets Field". The offered set includes four PSA-graded examples as follows: Gil Hodges PSA 6 EX-MT; Pee Wee Reese PSA 2.5 GOOD; Jackie Robinson PSA 6 EX-MT; and Duke Snider PSA 6 EX-MT. The offered is a perfect mid-grade set of low-pop examples. Reese is a POP 1 with less than ten superiors, while Hodges and Robinson have only three higher and Snider has a single example graded higher. Ranked #3 on the All-Time PSA Set Registry with a 5.13 GPA.
