1952 Berk Ross Willie Mays PSA 7.5 NM+
BERK ROSS MAYS!!! New York Giants rookie Willie Mays won the National League Rookie of the Year award after batting .274 with 127 hits, including 20 home runs, while driving in 68 runs in 121 games. Despite Mays' original hesitancy and early season slump, manager Leo Durocher stood strong and had high regard for and confidence in the 20-year-old knowing that he had something or someone special in his lineup. Durocher asked that Mays merely hit .250 and all of the rest would fall in line, and he was 100% correct. In 1954, the Say Hey Kid led the Giants to a World Series title and led the NL in triples, batting average and slugging to win the NL MVP award for the first time. (He won again in '65.) Offered here is a rare 1952 Berk Ross Willie Mays issue graded 7.5 NM+ by PSA. This attractive high-grade example from the fairly scarce Berk Ross set displays a great color portrait of the slick fielding center fielder with clean and crisp borders and edges. The clarity on the reverse is perfect, and the surfaces, both front and back, appear virtually flawless. This PSA 7.5 Mays would make an excellent addition to any 1952 Berk Ross collection!
