1909-11 T206 Brown Lenox Sam Crawford Batting PSA 1 PR – The SOLE Example Listed on the PSA & SGC POP Charts!
UNIQUE BROWN LENOX CRAWFORD!!! It's no secret that T206 enthusiasts relentlessly pursue the rarest ad-back tobacco cards, and aside from the hallowed "Ty Cobb King of the Smoking World" marvel, the two scarcest T206 cigarette advertisements continue to be the ever-elusive "Brown" Old Mill and Lenox versos. Near-impossible to locate, the illustrious T206 Resource website outlines the scarcity level of all 39 possible T206 ad backs, with the top three rarities including, in order, Ty Cobb King of the Tobacco Smoking World, Brown Old Mill and Brown Lenox. Locating any of those three T206 cigarette ads is a daunting task, justifying why this miraculous PSA 1 PR T206 Brown Lenox Sam Crawford offering truly stands as one of the rarest tobacco cards extant! Being the sole example listed on ANY population report, to the best of our knowledge, no other T206 Brown Lenox Crawford has been officially confirmed. As is the case for any cardboard scarcity, while another undiscovered example may be tucked away in a private collection, this one of a kind keepsake is currently the only documented Brown Lenox Crawford.
Furthermore, this Crawford Batting T206 resides as one of only eight known Brown Lenox Hall of Famers, with the remaining seven being: Cobb Bat Off, Jennings One Hand, Jennings Two Hands, Lajoie with Bat, Marquard Pitching, Tinker Bat Off, and Willis Batting. To date, full resolution has never been achieved with regard to exactly how the NY Factory No. 30 (2nd District) inadvertently issued a handful of Brown Lenox T206s. Yet, the most significant aspect of this bona fide rarity is not how it achieved its current paucity level but its sheer existence as the only known Crawford Brown Lenox. A HOF outfielder who played 12 of his 19 seasons alongside the immortal Ty Cobb, Crawford's 309 Triples still stand as the MLB record, and his majestic batting pose reminds us of his outstanding hitting prowess. A strong vertical crease running from top to bottom accounts for the assessment, as well as some additional stray wrinkles; however, the fine clarity and vibrant hues somewhat offset the creasing. Of course, it's the ultra-rare "BROWN LENOX" ad back that steals the show, with this unique Crawford heirloom truly destined to be the centerpiece attraction in any esteemed T206 scarce advertisement gathering!
