(LOT 18)
1921 Schapira Bros. Babe Ruth "Cleared the Bags" Hand Cut SGC 2 GOOD – POP 4; Only 3 SGC Examples Graded Higher!

RARE RUTH!!! Appropriately dubbed "Cleared the Bags", this SGC 2 GD 1921 Schapira Bros. Babe Ruth offering resides as one of only four SGC encapsulated copies, with a paltry three examples graded higher. In this timeless pose, Babe Ruth has completed his majestic swing, with the Candy Company assuming he has smacked another tape-measure homer that cleared the bags! The Babe would actually out-homer nearly every MLB team his first two Yankee seasons, clouting a miraculous 54 and 59 dingers in 1920 and 1921, respectively, ultimately embarking on an incomparable career that would place him as our National Pastime's greatest all-time player. The condition sensitivity and scarcity level of the 1921 Schapira Bros. Candy Co. Ruth issues cannot be overemphasized, with many of these cards residing in SGC or PSA Authentic holders. Neatly hand-cut from its original box, the borders and centering are evenly spaced, with the red and blue hued batting image eluding any obtrusive flaws. A bona fide keeper and early Ruth Yankees card, its immense value is justified by a previous SGC 2 example fetching $9,533 in a February 2022 Memory Lane Auction!
