(LOT 1879)
THE KID'S GAME-USED SHOES!!! In 1998-99, Ken Griffey, Jr. was on top of the world as arguably the most recognizable sports figure on the planet and the most prolific home run hitter in the Major Leagues. Jr. led the American League in homers from 1997-1999 and was the reigning AL MVP at the start of the 1998 season. So, it is logical to deduce that Griffey launched multiple home runs at Seattle’s Kingdome while donning these size 11 Nike Air Ken Griffey Jr. model baseball cleats. Based upon the Authentic Record letter, Griffey donated these game-used and signed cleats to the Children’s HeartLink organization for a 199 charitable auction. Showing heavy soil and considerable wear, these black and white Nike Air cleats feature the Swingman logo on the heels (Jr.’s signature brand) and have been signed on each outer toe in silver paint pen both appearing 8-9 strength. This is an absolutely fantastic pair of game-worn, signed shoes from one of the great hitters of the 1990s and 2000s. These museum-worthy shoes would be the highlight of even the most prestigious of autographed game-used baseball collections. This lot carries multiple LOAs including from PSA and Beckett.
