Extremely Rare c.1950s USA Jackie Robinson Model Glove
RARE JACKIE MODEL GLOVE!!!... Presented here is an extraordinarily rare c.1950s glove, one of just three USA-issued Jackie Robinson gloves ever found, possibly manufactured as a prototype. It combines the popular JC Higgins brand with pro-stock Wilson features, including top-grade tanned steer hide leather with "Streamline Kure-Form Fingers" patent stamping on the outer finger (Robinson actually used a Wilson model). The pocket of the glove includes the popular "JC Higgins – Our Own Trademark – 150 – SEARS ROEBUCK AND CO." logo, as well as the significant "Jackie Robinson" facsimile signature as a bona fide endorsement of this magnificent heirloom. The overall condition of this glove is spectacular, with beautiful, supple leather, outstanding lining, and easily legible stampings on the heel, pinky and palm. Note that the Jackie Robinson facsimile signature stamping retains some portion of the original silver.
The final exclamation point is what appears to be the original lacing, with only some minor restoration to the trim. An outstanding example of this ultra-scarce Jackie Robinson glove issued during the 1950s. Due to Robinson's historic 1947 signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers, baseball and America were immediately transformed for the better, justifying why any of Jackie's obscure artifacts issued during his playing days such as this remarkable USA model glove are highly coveted by the collecting community!
