(LOT 1635)
Incredibly Rare Partial-Set of 1910 E104-1 Blank Backs w/NYC Period "Swift" Stamps on the Back - 11 SGC Graded Subjects & First Known E104-1s w/"Swift" Ad Back Stamps!

RARE VINTAGE FIND!!!... One of the rarest candy "E" card sets is the 1910 Nadja Caramel E104-1 issue consisting of 18 World Series champion Philadelphia Athletics. This extremely obscure regional offering originated from the City of Brotherly Love, revealing three variations including Nadja ad or blank backs, as well as plain portraits or overprinted "World's Champions – 1910" portraying the classic "white elephant" Athletics logo on their uniforms. With only 15 blank backs ever graded by SGC, these recently unearthed 11 SGC encapsulated cards are the first of their kind to ever surface, with all 11 subjects featuring a possibly unique NYC based "SWIFT" store 1911 period stamping on the original blank backs, most likely issued from the establishment where they were originally purchased.

This concept is very similar to the super scarce "Henry Johnson Wholesale Confectioner" stampings on 1922 W575-1 blank backs that are likewise rendered a viable separate ACC issue. Each of the offered E104-1s features the "World Series - 1910" caption and white elephant overprint, with the gathering comprised of seven SGC 1 PR and four SGC AUTHENTIC examples. Included in this miraculous compilation are: SGC 1 PR – Strunk, Morgan, Krause, Lord, Lapp, Livingston & Oldring; SGC AUTHENTIC – Murphy, Eddie Plank/HOF, Davis & Home Run Baker/HOF. For full disclosure, each back displays some level of tape residue and touches on the inner corners from album removal. Regardless, their low-grade status is rendered virtually irrelevant versus the "right to own a copy", with their sheer existence sure to stimulate a bidding frenzy amongst the hobby's most sophisticated "type" card enthusiasts!
